Frequently asked questions

Where do Spanish citizens in Vietnam apply for a passport?
At the Embassy of Spain in Hanoi, by email appointment, once registered with the Embassy. The fee is VND 926,000 in exact cash and it takes about 3 weeks. There is no consulate general; Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang have honorary vice-consulates only.
I lost my Spanish passport in Vietnam. What now?
Declare the loss at the Embassy (mandatory) and report it to the police. Then apply for a replacement passport, a provisional passport for urgent travel, or a free safe-conduct to fly straight to Spain, and get a Vietnamese exit visa from the Immigration Department.
Can a Spanish–Vietnamese couple marry at the Embassy?
No. Marry at a Vietnamese civil registry office, then register the marriage at the Embassy in Hanoi. Civil registry procedures at the Embassy are free.
